Before we give thanks
Posted by Bacon on November 27th, 2013 filed in Hero of the week, Stories

Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks. Ironically, because the day is so full of activities – relatives dropping in, non-stop football on TV, and the all the joyful chaos surrounding Thanksgiving dinner – we sometimes forget what the holiday is really for.

So today we remember to give thanks.

I am thankful that I have a family. Many do not.

I am thankful that I have the privilege to work with a group of men and women who sacrificed dearly in service to their country, and have the opportunity to watch them blossom. The Wyakin Warriors.

I am thankful that I live in this country, warts and all, where freedom and liberty are assumed rather than granted.

I am thankful for God’s grace and blessing. We are all broken, yet He loves us in spite of ourselves.

I am thankful that right now hundreds of thousands of men and women toil in dangerous places in the world to defend us, and do so willingly so that we can enjoy this Thanksgiving in peace.

There are countless other things for which we can give thanks. In the day-to-day turmoil of the world, it is easy to see the danger and despair. Don’t forget to see the things in life that are good; not just tomorrow, but every day.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all.
