This year’s offering of high-tech activity trackers can log your steps, your sleep and even your sedentary tendencies.

Think of them as virtual coaches — to help set and meet your goals — or as cyber tattletales to alert your friends about a lazy week. Whether you’re a data nerd or someone who’s fallen off the fitness wagon, these trackers will help get — and keep — you moving.

Get the stats, after the jump.

1. Sync Elite Activity Tracker

Price: $40

Wear it: Clip

Battery life: One year

App: MapMyWalk

Wireless compatibility: No. Uses a retractable jack

Sleep tracking: No

Water resistant: No info

Display: LCD

www.mapmyfitness.com

The most basic tracker on our list, it still tracks steps, activity time and speed, as well as fat burning and pace. A three-axis digital accelerometer sensor tracks steps accurately. Compatible with iPhone 3GS or later and select Android devices.

2. Fitbit Force

Price: $130

Wear it: Bracelet

Battery life: 7 to 10 days

App: Fitbit app

Wireless compatibility: iPhone 4S and newer, iPad 3 and newer, some Samsung Galaxy devices

Sleep tracking: Yes, including time and quality

Water resistant: Yes

Display: OLED

www.fitbit.com

Has all the features of Fitbit’s popular Flex wristband but includes an altimeter to better track stairs climbed. Also new: incoming call alerts. With iOS 7 (iPhone 4S and newer), Force can send you incoming call notifications when your phone is close by. Toggle between steps, distance, calories burned, active minutes, floors climbed and time of day.

3. Fitbit One

Price: $100

Wear it: Clip

Battery life: 7-10 days

App: Fitbit app

Wireless compatibility: iPhone 4S and newer, iPad 3 and newer, some Samsung Galaxy devices

Sleep tracking: Yes, including time and quality

Water resistant: Yes, but shouldn’t be submerged More than 1 meter

Display: OLED

www.fitbit.com

For Fitbit fans who don’t want to wear their trackers on their wrists, this tracker shares all the features of the Force, minus the incoming call notifications. Weighing in at just more than .25 ounces, you can stash this little device in your pocket and forget about it. The downside? It’s easy to lose — or send through the laundry.

4. Nike+ FuelBand SE

Price: $150

Wear it: Bracelet

Battery life: 1-4 days

App: Nike+ Fuel Band app, iOS only

Wireless compatibility: iOS devices including iPhone 4S and above

Sleep tracking: Time only

Water resistant: Yes

Display: LED lights

www.nikeplus.nike.com/plus

Tracks your activity throughout the day and converts it to NikeFuel units, which are displayed on the wristband or in the app. The downside is that these units are exclusive to Nike+ and won’t let you compare steps with your other tracker friends unless they’re using Nike+ Groups.

5. Polar: Loop

Price: $110

Wear it: Bracelet

Battery life: 5 days

App: Polar Flow, iOS only

Wireless compatibility: iPhone 4S and later. Non-iPhone users sync to a computer via USB

Sleep tracking: Shows resting and sitting periods

Water resistant: Yes

Display: LED lights show battery levels, calories burned and steps

www.polarloop.com/us-en

The Polar Flow app will alert you when you’ve been sitting too long. Data nerds can pair the Loop with Polar’s H6 heart rate monitor ($70). Falling short of your daily goals? The app will suggest activities that’ll get you there.

6. Jawbone Up24

Price: $150

Wear it: Bracelet

The feature that sets the UP24 apart from its fellow trackers is its smart alarm and power nap features. It will vibrate to wake you up at optimal times in your sleep cycle so you don’t wake up frazzled. It has a customized “idle alert” to let you know when you’ve been still too long.
