Marine Corps Marathon transfer, defer deadline is Aug. 31

Heads up, runners: If you need to transfer or defer your 2014 Marine Corps Marathon entry then you need to act before Sunday night.

The deadline for both programs is Aug. 31 at midnight. After that you’re out of luck.

To defer:

Deferring guarantees you a spot in the 2015 race, but you’ll have to pay a $60 fee now and then re-register next year.  You will not be able to defer your 2014 entry more than once.

From the Marine Corps Marathon site:

1-Find your original confirmation number
2-Copy and paste the “Edit/Transfer/Defer Link” into another browser window to access the Transaction Review Link.
3- Plug in original confirmation number as well as DOB and Login.
4- Select to Defer Entry
5- Acknowledge the policy and payment requirement and complete transaction.
6- Runners will receive information in early 2015 guiding through a special registration process for those that deferred.

To transfer

You can transfer your bib to a non-registered runner if you start the process before midnight on Aug. 31.  The new runner will pay a $40 transfer fee and must complete the transfer process by Sept. 3.

Transfer an entry now.
